~4.3 MB, not great quality |
All right, we're not even going to try to justify the 10-month delay in updating this page. All we can say is that these days, we'd far rather be spending time with our kids than sitting around writing about them. Amelia is now a startlingly articulate, relentlessly funny and imaginative preschooler, with whom it's simply a delight to hang out. She's a fabulous big sister, who sticks up for her little brother at every opportunity, always willing to share with him, and as proud as we are of his accomplishments. She's taking ballet lessons, and takes every chance to paint, draw, or otherwise create. A recent hobby is sounding out words she encounters, with increasing and impressive accuracy. She's unfailingly polite, and otherwise the model of good behavior. As a direct result of that, we took her to Disneyland in March 2005, where her behavior was exemplary - even when completely exhausted, she'd respond to every "no" with "okay." As a result, of course, we tried like crazy to minimize the need to say "no." We'll try to do another update after her birthday (including a million Disneyland pictures, give or take), but she's just so wonderful, we couldn't wait that long to update her pages. 4/11/05 |

Our neighborhood is a little hilly for riding, but that's fine - she's completely undeterred by the limitations of riding in the living room (though she much prefers the kitchen). |
She chose her own cosutme for Halloween '04, and picked out the makeup scheme to go with it. We were even able to trick-or-treat at, maybe, 5 houses, despite biting wind and our usual lack of planning. Note fellow feline, left, exhibiting characteristic confusion. |
Another Halloween shot (we couldn't choose), here posing in the post-trick-or-treat glow with her little brother, who, like everyone else, adores her. |

After years of intending to, we finally made it to the Dixon Apple Farm in September, where Amelia had her first-ever pick-it-up-and-eat-it apple. Thanks to digital technology, we were able to try about a dozen times and finally get a decent photo of the occasion. |
We went to Denver when Amelia's Auntie Monica married now-husband, and welcome family member, Michael, in September 2004. Our last day there, we found this lovely park, and Amelia charmed the locals as she does everyone in Albuquerque. |
At Monica and Michael's wedding reception, Amelia started something of a dance craze by pushing a chair around the dance floor. Much to her delight, her Grampa took over driving duties after a time, making this one of the few dance crazes with passengers. |

Last birthday, she didn't really get the point of blowing out candles. This year, after a couple of false starts, she got 'em all in one breath. |
Surrounded by loot and wrappings, she was not so distracted by third-birthday goings-on that she couldn't stop for a moment and discuss a card she'd received. |
She's really gunning for the title of "Best Big Sister Ever," fascinated as she is with her little brother. She's curious, attentive, and even helpful! |

No caption needed here, really - just a picture of a cute little girl on the slide. |
Preparatory to moving her bookshelf to her room, we just left books there when we read them to her. It amounted to quite a pile! |
What is it about a nearly-3-year-old that she can appear so poised, so grown-up, with a duck on her head? |
We figured that, after all this time, her first 200 words are old enough news that they can comfortably go on her archive page.
